One Beam of Light Exhibition, London
22 Apr ’13 After a Sunday of nail biting, focussing and preparation, Monday 15th April saw the One Beam of Light exhibition finally open at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London. Kinetic Potential
15 Mar ’13 For those of you who were disappointed, (and we know that there were a few!) by Light Show at the Hayward Gallery with its big names and obvious choices, we are pleased to announce we found the antidote right here in the same city. Visiting the Kinetica Art Fair in London is a great alternative. Only two of the names were familiar to us and the rest were fresh and shiny. Best of all, you could take pictures and film, talk with the artists and even eat a sandwich as you walked round. This is art as it should be, accessible and fun… . Read on >
At the Light Show
8 Feb ’13 First in the doors after the opening preview night, Light Collective went to check out the Light Show at the Hayward Gallery in London’s South Bank at 10am on a windy Wednesday morning. The predictable line up of famous names and big guns: James Turrell, Dan Flavin, Jenny Holzer, Olafur Eliasson, Leo Villareal etc was tempered by a few new names to us. Venice is Better
30 Nov ’12 Whilst the UK lighting scene was looking to Lux Live for their annual dose of LED lighting trade show inspiration, Light Collective hopped over to Venice to catch the architecture biennale before it closed. The choice between looking at LEDs and listening to such talks as “3pm – has warehouse lighting reached the tipping point? @LuxLive” and wandering around exhibits designed by the worlds best architectural practices was an easy one. The Light Collective Interview
23 Nov ’12 Light Collective is the brain child of Martin Lupton and Sharon Stammers. (Both highly qualified lighting designers and Martin was a previous President of the PLDA at the same time Sharon was the PLDA’s UK Coordinator). They set Light Collective up to NOT to do the things other lighting design companies do, but to establish a whole new way of looking at light and the generation of ideas. Its a success story that has already taken them to most corners of the globe. We are delighted that both Martin and Sharon will be writing for illumni on a regular basis.
